Dr. Kevin “Khao” Cates is a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated music producer , entrepreneur , author , and philanthropist whose career bridges entertainment, education, and social impact. With over 35 million records sold, his production credits span icons like T .I., Jay-Z, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, and Rihanna. His signature hit “Why You Wanna” by T .I. earned a Grammy nomination and showcased his ability to craft timeless music.

Beyond music, Dr. Cates is dedicated to using culture as a tool for transformation. He founded Bridge Da Gap, a nonprofit t hat merges hip-hop, technology, and character education to inspire students worldwide. Through KOOLriculum and KoolAR, he has written and produced over 600 educational songs, bringing core academics to life and boosting student achievement in schools across the nation.

Dr. Cates also authored HUMEN The Manual Every Man Should Read, a powerful book and program designed to help men heal, grow , and build stronger identities. The HUMEN initiative includes courses, journals, music, and community resources dedicated to mental health and empowerment.

As the founder of KMG Studios in Atlanta, Dr. Cates has expanded his vision into film and media. KMG Studios is a premier hub for film and television production, soundstage rental, and creative collaboration, serving bot h independent creators and major productions. It also acts as a training ground for the next generation of film professionals, reinforcing his commitment to education and opportunity .
