Suzanne graduated from Boston University with an Ed.D. in Speech Pathology and began her career working as a speech pathologist in the public schools. She initiated her college teaching career at Emerson College, becoming a tenured full professor. Dr. Swope served as a Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs at Emerson College and the University of Bridgeport, Associate Vice Provost and later Associate Vice President for Information Management and Reporting at George Mason University, and Vice President for Enrollment Management at Fontbonne University. Her professional experience spans 40 years.

After retiring from administrative work, she turned to public service in Winthrop MA. She served six years on the School Committee and is currently serving a four- year term on Town Council, where she was recently selected as Vice President.

Dr. Swope is married with two adult children and three grandchildren.
