Robert Ivory. A captivating smooth jazz and R&B singer/songwriter, Bob Ivory is a passionate recording artist who takes listeners on a musical journey that blends memorable melodies, clever hooks and interesting lyrics. His smooth vocals caressed by subtle harmonies are embodied within a unique blend of smooth jazz and modern R&B stylings.
Bob hails from Cleveland, Ohio born in Lake Village, Arkansas and works diligently with middle and high school students in Northeast Ohio in efforts to close the achievement gap and increase the high school graduation rate. With an extensive catalog and repertoire of songs he’s written, produced, arranged and performed, his single release “Sway With Me” reached the top 40 nationally on the Smooth Jazz chart.
Influenced by such musical greats as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Michael Franks, Curtis Mayfield and Kenny (Babyface) Edmunds, Bob reaches into his myriad of experiences to encrypt mood, message and melody into songs that linger and latch onto mind, body and spirit.
Your host, Dion Parson, is an educator, composer, Grammy Award-winning performer, and bandleader. He currently resides on the island of St. Thomas and serves as the Chair of the Communication and Performing Arts Department at the University of the Virgin Islands. He is also the President of the United Jazz Foundation, which is a music education organization that mentors underprivileged kids to become musicians. His musical career has allowed him to tour internationally for over 30 years, and he has been recorded on over 110 recordings.
