LISA ADDEO

Around the tender age of 5, my parents had to leave town unexpectedly for a family funeral and dropped me off at my mom’s best friend Jackie’s house. Jackie had a piano—and I couldn’t stay away from it. She taught me one song, and that was all it took. I was hooked. When my parents came back, I refused to leave unless they promised to get me “one of those things". I even told them I’d stay with Jackie forever unless they agreed.
And so…my musical journey began.

As a kid, I was mesmerized watching bands and orchestras perform with perfect coordination. I couldn’t understand how everyone knew what to play and when —until I discovered the magic of something called an arranger. I knew I had to learn how to do that. Fast forward, I performed regularly as a singer and pianist, eventually earning a Master’s degree in Composing, Arranging, and Conducting. I was so passionate about learning, I could barely sleep at night—I just wanted to absorb everything I could.
Along the way, I studied songwriting, lyric writing, vocal performance, and developed a natural ease with technology, computers and music production. To this day, I engineer my own recordings at my grand piano, and do all my own digital waveform editing. I also run my own label, Little Black Dress Records, because I love being hands-on with every part of the process.

My road to reaching #1 on the Billboard charts with the title track from my album Listen To This included some amazing milestones along the way– breaking attendance records at Radio City Music Hall, performing all over the world, appearing on TV and in films, and recording Great American Songbook favorites at Capitol Studios singing into Frank Sinatra’s vintage microphone.

Though the Contemporary Jazz community is home to me, I also love writing and performing other genres—Spa, Holiday, Solo Piano, and timeless Standards. I’m incredibly grateful for the millions of streams and the support of fans around the world. I deeply admire my fellow artists and cherish every chance to collaborate.
What makes me feel most fulfilled is engaging in the creative process and then bringing my music to appreciative audiences.

I'm so glad I made that deal with my Mom and Dad. This is what I am meant to do and I truly feel like I'm living my dream: creating the best music I can and sharing it with YOU!
